STATEMENT

The Long Beach Area Chamber of Commerce Announces Tentative Agreement Between
The International Longshore and Warehouse Union and the Pacific Maritime Association

We're thrilled to announce a tentative agreement between the International Longshore and Warehouse Union (ILWU) and the Pacific Maritime Association (PMA) has been reached. This deal, pending ratification from both parties, provides much-needed stability for the 22,000 workers at 29 West Coast ports, including our very own port in Long Beach.

Collective bargaining, though challenging at times, has once again proven its effectiveness. The perseverance and dedication of all parties involved have led to this landmark agreement that will not only benefit our workers and employers but also our nation's supply chain.

As we approach the critical retail seasons and amidst changing global shipping patterns, this agreement promises a level of certainty and confidence for businesses that rely heavily on our ports for their operations. We want to extend our sincere congratulations to the ILWU and PMA for their hard work.

This deal brings a new dawn for the West Coast ports, particularly in Long Beach. We look forward to a renewed focus on the operations of our Port of Long Beach and the chance to work with our partners to restore and enhance our region's position as a vital hub for global commerce. #LongBeachStrong
