Featured Speaker: Matthew Faulkner

Executive Director, Community Hospital Long Beach Foundation

Matthew Faulkner was born in Cornwall, England in 1959 and immigrated to the United States in 1967 on the last transatlantic crossing of the Queen Mary to New York.  His family moved to Santa Cruz, California, where he attended Harbor High School and Cabrillo College before moving to Southern California in 1981 to attend the American Academy of Dramatic Art.  In 1984 he joined the Pasadena Chamber of Commerce as Director of Economic Development and held subsequent positions at the Long Beach Chamber of Commerce and Beverly Hills Chamber of Commerce, as Vice President for Business Development.  
 
In 1998 Matthew, together with his wife Clare, formed the MAJEC Company, a management consulting firm specializing in nonprofit sector strategic and financial planning, program and donor development, including major gift, capital and endowment campaigns and worked extensively with national nonprofits in child advocacy, economic development, education, entertainment and government affairs.    Clients included the Annie E. Casey Foundation, Being Alive Long Beach, The Getty House Foundation, Los Angeles Educational Partnership and the Rowell Foster Children’s Positive Plan.
 
From 2004 – 2012 Matthew served as the Director of External Relations for the USC Lusk Center for Real Estate a nationally recognized research center for the real estate industry at the University of Southern California.  Most recently Matthew served as the Director of Individual Giving for the Segerstrom Center for the Arts in Costa Mesa and is currently the Executive Director of the Community Hospital Long Beach Foundation a position he has held since 2014
 
Matthew has been active member of the Long Beach community since moving to the city in 1985.  He performed in several productions at the Long Beach Playhouse and received the Ethyl Case Award for Best Actor in 1987.  He is currently a member of the Alamitos Heights Improvement Association and a former member of the Board of Directors of Musical Theatre West.
 
He currently lives in Long Beach, California with his wife Clare and has three grown children.
