GOOD NEWS!! Our hosts at Keesal, Young & Logan are allowing us extended use of their space for our Evening with Carmen O. Perez. Doors will open at 5PM (instead of 5:30) for complimentary appetizers and drinks with programming to follow. Join us as Harbor Commission President Sharon Weissman talks with Carmen O. Perez, the first Chicana to serve on the Long Beach Harbor Commission (1991-2003). Born in East L.A., Perez started as a leader with Girl Scouts and PTA, which led to organizing the war on poverty with Long Beach?s Centro de la Raza / East Neighborhood Center. She co-founded the Long Beach Chicano Political Caucus, and in the 1980s and 1990s, Perez served as the Democratic National Committee (DNC) Vice Chair for California, and the Vice Chair of the DNC.
